An outstanding 20 acre garden on a promontory bounded by Loch Melfort and Asknish Bay on the Sound of Jura. Nationally noted for its rhododendrons, azalea and magnolias.

This large area in the Trust’s care provides some of the best walking country in the Highlands. Site of the infamous Massacre in 1692.

This monument was erected in 1815 in tribute to the clansmen who died in the cause of Prince Charles Edward Stuart. The Visitor Centre has displays of the Prince’s campaign from Glenfinnan to Derby and the final defeat at Culloden.
Macquarie Mausoleum Gruline, Isle of Mull, Argyll & Bute Open: daily
The Mausoleum is on the Gruline estate, once owned by Lachlan Macquarie, Governor of New South Wales and known as ‘the father of Australia’.
