The Golden Pipeline highlights the heritage of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme designed by the engineer CY O’Connor and opened in 1903. Eight
steam pump stations pushed water from the hills east of Perth to the goldfields 560kms away. The heritage trail highlights natural and local

Built as the end point of the updated Goldfields Water Supply Scheme, Mount Charlotte Reservoir is the trail head for the Golden Pipeline
Heritage Trail. The site offers 360 degree views over the town of Kalgoorlie and the surrounding Goldfields. Walk trails provide interpretive
information about the construction of the reservoir and related infrastructure. A water wise garden has been constructed to showcase goldfields

No 8 Pump Station was the last of the steam stations of the Goldfields Water Supply Scheme to close. The final shut down came in 1970 bringing an
end to almost 70 years of wood fired boilers powering the mighty pumps which delivered water almost 560 kms from Mundaring to Kalgoorlie. The
pump station is the most intact and is available for inspection by contacting the caretaker. For more detailed information follow the link to the

WARDEN FINNERTY’S RESIDENCE 2 McKenzie Street, Coolgardie

Goldfields could be lawless places and so, in 1895, this residence was built for Coolgardie’s first Resident Magistrate and Mining Warden,
Irishman John Michael Finnerty. With the harsh climate in mind it was constructed of local stone and brick with tall windows with louvered
shutters, large verandahs and a ventilated roof lantern. The builder was the future timber magnate Robert Bunning.
Open: Thurs-Tues and public holidays 11am-4pm. Closed Christmas Day and Good Friday.
