Hill House

Holmwood House

The architectural style of the house is an adaptation of classical Greek, built in 1857. Rooms are richly decorated in wood, plaster and marble.

National Museum of Rural Life Scotland

The Museum includes an exhibition building housing the National Country Life Collection and an historic working farm showing traditional farming life using techniques and equipment from the 1950s.

Three earlier castles were replaced by the present house (c.1740). It was
extended in 1890 and now contains a notable collection of paintings,
porcelain and furnishings.
