From the summit at 320m there is a 360 degree view, as far as Teesside
in one direction and the Yorkshire Dales in another. The peculiar shape of
the hill is due to a geological fault and a mining collapse. The area is rich
in wildlife, particularly moorland birds. A spur of the Cleveland Way
National Trail runs up to the summit of Roseberry Topping.

2470ha (6100 acres) of the Upper Wharfe valley north of Kettlewell. The
Trust owns nine farms here, including the hamlets of Yockenthwaite and
Cray. This is classic Yorkshire Dales country, with drystone walls and
barns, important flower-rich hay meadows, valleyside woodland and
blanket bog.

A group of coastal properties extending for 40 miles from Saltburn in the
north to Filey in the south, and centred around Robin Hood’s Bay. The
Cleveland Way long-distance footpath follows the cliff top and gives
splendid views. A wide range of habitats – meadow, woodland, coastal
heath and cliff grassland – provide sanctuary to many species of wildlife,
from orchids to nesting birds. The area is rich in industrial archaeology
and the remains of the alum industry and jet and ironstone mining can
be seen.
