A ruined Elizabethan great house of the McDonagh
McCarthy Mor acquired by the National Trust in 1900 (the
first acquisition in Ireland) and now owned by An Taisce.
It contains interesting renaissance features and is
surrounded by symbolic plantings of Irish and English
oaks. Open all year. Entry Free

CO. DONEGAL
Crocnafarragh, Co. Donegal
6,500 acres of mountainous landscape acquired by An
Taisce in the 1960’s. One of the landscapes least affected by human activity in Ireland, it forms part of the Glenveagh National Park. Information from the National Park  Centre, Glenveagh. Open all year. Entry fee to the National Park

Rough Island & Gull Islands Co. Donegal
These islands are nature reserves in Mulroy Bay and
contain breeding colonies of birds. Open by appointment

A salt water/ fresh water marsh on the south shore of
the Dublin Bay Special Protection Area for Birds. It is important for plant and birdlife. A good place for bird watching which can be carried out from the Dart Station carpark and platform as well as from the Rock Road. The surface of the marsh is not open except by appointment.

The Tailors Guildhall, Back Lane Dublin 8
The last surviving guildhall in Dublin rebuilt in 1706 on medieval (C.14th Century) foundations in the Queen Anne style. It is one of the most historic structures in the city and has played host to many of the important figures of Irish history. It is in the heart of the old city close to Dublin Castle and the medieval Cathedrals. The national headquarters of An Taisce since 1980. Open all year. By appointment. Tel 01 4541786. Boyne Navigation, Between Drogheda
and Navan Co Meath

An early disused narrow canal navigation with interesting locks and bridges, running alongside the river Boyne. Sections of the tow path are being restored along the Battle of the Boyne site and near the ancient megalithic tombs of Bru na Boyne. Open all year. Entry Free.

One of the last remaining midland raised bogs of international importance for its flora and fauna. Open by appointment for research.
