Gelderland has a wealth of nature, castles and historic country homes. The Gelderland Trust for Historic Houses works in close cooperation with Gelderland Landscape Foundation to guarantee the future of the wealth of nature, castles and historic homes in the province of Gelderland. Together they care for over 120 sites, including historic country estates, often with castles, historic homes and characteristic farm buildings, as well as farm land, forests, heaths, shifting sand areas, brooks and streams. Because there are many stairs in the castles, only Zypendaal House is accessible to wheel chair users. All sites are closed on the Queen’s Birthday, 30 April. Members have free entry to the castles open to the public during normal opening times. Members often receive a discount on entry for special events. Dogs are not allowed into the castles and houses.
