Agery Reserve
Located 5 km southwest of Agery, on Donaldsons Rd near Bowdens Rd
A small 3.3ha triangular nature reserve of natural mallee scrub in a relatively undisturbed state. The upper storey has several species of mallee Eucalypts and the understorey has sclerophyllous shrubs. The ground layer is dominated by sedges and is rich in orchids.
Open: daily. Closed during the Yorke Peninsula fire ban season.

Ardrossan Museum

Ardrossan and District Historical Museum is located in a large stone building, originally built around 1880 for Clarence Herbert Smith as a factory to manufacture agricultural machinery including the stump-jump plough. In 1973 it was re-roofed and repaired generally, and painted by Rural Relief workers. The Museum focuses on the stump-jump plough and other machinery.
Open: Sun 2.30pm-4.30pm, public holidays 9.30am-4.30pm, other times by arrangement.

Hughes Pump House
North Terrace, Moonta Mines

Erected in 1865, this housed a 60-inch Cornish beam-pumping engine, which operated until the mine closed in 1923. It pumped water from the adjacent shaft to a depth of 366 metres and from Taylors Shaft, about 300 metres to the North, to a depth of 788 metres.

Maitland Public School Museum

Built in 1877 and later extended, the school opened its doors in January
1878 with 106 enrolments and an average attendance of 45 pupils.

Matta House
Matta Road, Kadina. Entry via The Farm Shed, 50 Moonta Road, Kadina
Matta House was built in 1863 as the residence of the Manager of Matta
Matta Mine.
Open: Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, weekends and public holidays 10am-3.30pm.

Minlaton Museum

Minlaton and District Museum is located in part of an old General Store built about 1889 and contains in a special room memorabilia of Captain Harry Butler A.F.C., a local Pioneer Aviator, World War One fighter pilot and instructor. His 1916 authentically restored Bristol Monoplane, the only
genuine one left in the World, is on display at Minlaton. Also displayed are
many items pertaining to early Pioneer life in the area.

Moonta Miner’s Cottage & Heritage Garden

Built in 1870, this cottage of the mine settlement is typically Cousin Jack.
The National Trust has furnished cottage to the pre 1900 period. The
characteristic picket fence encloses a picturesque heritage garden that has been recreated in the style of gardens established by mining families.

4pm.

Moonta Mines Model School Museum

Moonta Mines Museum houses thematic displays on the Cornish miners.
There are also extensive displays of costume, china, silverware,
photographs, memorabilia and a classroom furnished in c.1900. Take a 50
minute round trip by narrow gauge rail passing the reservoir and ore sorting floors, then through a tunnel in Ryans Tailings Heap. Departs hourly from the station adjacent to the Moonta Mines Museum.
Museum open: daily, 1pm-4pm.
Train: Wed 2.00pm, Sat & Sun 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.
Museum and train: SA school and public holidays 11am-4pm.

Moonta Mines Sweet Shop

The shop was once a post office and was erected in 1946 and closed in 1976. At the time of closing it was said to be the smallest post office in South Australia. The old post office is now a sweet shop stocking old fashioned drinks, sweets and ice creams.

Moonta Railway Station – Moonta Tourist Office
100m west of corner Ellen Street and Blanch Terrace, Moonta

The building was erected by Gambling and Son and opened in 1909. It is
now the home of the Moonta Tourist Office.
Open: daily, 9am-5pm.

Mulbura Park Reserve
Mulburra Park Road, 7 km north of Port Vincent

The Reserve consists of 19 ha of remnant low Sheoak woodland and Mallee. Over 136 indigenous species have been identified within the woodland and the reserve provides suitable habitat for 10 bird species of Regional Conservation Significance. During Spring, the wildflowers are in full bloom.

Rocky Bend Reserve
Located 7km south of Moonta on the Moonta to Maitland Road
A small reserve of native scrub and shrubland in a highly cleared area. The 3.5ha wedge shaped strip forms a significant island of native vegetation containing mallee Eucalypts, sclerophyllous shrubs, Acacias, native orchids and lichen crust covering the ground.
Open: daily, except total fire ban days.

The Farm Shed Museum
50 Moonta Road, Kadina

The Museum complex houses one of Australia's largest and most significant collections of dry land farming equipment and an interpretive centre. The displays also include a detailed history of the town in thematic and photographic form.

Wallaroo Heritage and Nautical Museum

This solid limestone building (built 1865) was the town’s first post office. It now houses the Heritage and Nautical Museum.
